Here is an interesting recipe for so-called burger roll. It is really delicious and plus – low carb. Must say that my family was delighted, despite that my husband is true fan of ordinary burgers. But this recipe could be a nice, healthy alternative to your favorite not so healthy fast food. Just try it!
Low-carb Burger Roll recipe
This recipe makes 4 servings. It takes 20 minutes for preparation, 35 minutes for baking and 10 minutes more to rest.
Ingredients that you need:
- 1 lb. (500 g) quark (fresh cheese)
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- a pinch of salt
- 1 lb. (500 g) beef meat, minced
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 1 large tomato
- 1 large onion
- ¼ cucumber
- 4 oz. (120 g) Edam cheese
- 4 tbsp. ketchup
- 4 tbsp. mustard
At first, preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (350 degrees F).
In a bowl place quark, the eggs, baking powder and salt. Mix well and spread the mixture (dough) on a square baking tray covered with baking paper. Use the entire surface of the baking tray slowly. Then push the dough into the oven for 35 minutes, or until is golden brown.
While baking the dough, fry minced meat and set it aside. Clean the lettuce leaves, then cut the cucumber, tomato and onion in slices. Grind the Edam cheese. Keep these ingredients handy aside.
Take the dough out of the oven after 35 minutes. Let it cool down for about 10 minutes.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the dough of the baking paper yet! It can help you to roll up the dough later!
Spread the mustard and ketchup on the dough. Sprinkle the cheese only on one half. Now put back the dough into the oven for 5 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Take the dough out of the oven and cover the cheesy side with meat, lettuce leaves, onion, cucumber and tomato slices.
Now it gets slightly trickier. Roll the burger roll together and start at the thickly coated side. The baking paper will help you. Then cut your burger roll into 4 pieces, serve and enjoy!
