Parsley is not just an ordinary spice

The next time you cook the soup, do not spare at parsley. When almost done, add the chopped leaves of this plant in a slightly larger amount than you would normally do. Your body will appreciated it.

Few know that the parsley, commonly used as spice, is a healing plant. It contains large amounts of vitamin A, vitamin C, E and K. Its roots, leaves and seeds (more precisely, the fruit) are rich in essential oil; which contains powerful compounds as myristicin and apiol. This plant is rich with powerful antioxidant – flavonoid luteolin. Its green leaves are rich in chlorophyll and iron.

Vitamin K is necessary for the synthesis of sphingolipids, fat participating in the construction of the myelin membrane that surrounds the nerve. So it is very important for the proper functioning of the nervous system.

Healing properties of parsley

In phytotherapy, parsley is used as a remedy for digestive organs, breathing and urination organs. Also, encourages the process of excretion toxins from the body; strengthens the immune system; has anti-inflammatory property; and is recommended for people suffering from arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Like its cousins from the same family (anise, fennel, celery, dill), parsley encourages digestion, prevents gases and bloating.

The roots, leaves and especially seeds of this plant are powerful diuretics. It stimulates the removal of excess fluid from the body, and is especially recommended for those who suffer from swelling of the legs, and cellulite.

Parsley stimulates the formation of collagen in the body, so it accelerates wound healing. Also it strengthens the teeth and bones.

An excellent way to prevent cardiovascular disease and a heart attack or stroke is by adding handful of chopped parsley to salads or stews.

This plant has the power to amplify menstruation and eliminate pains that go with it. So it is recommended as a remedy for irregular, weak and painful cycles. For the same reason, it is not good for pregnant women. People suffering from inflammatory kidney disease should avoid it. In the group of those who should carefully take large amounts of parsley are included people suffering from serious liver damage.

Tincture of parsley leaves is verified remedy for removing freckles and stains from the skin.

Tea mixture with parsley for detoxification

Ingredients for the tea:

  • Parsley (Petrosalinum sativum) leaves 3 ½ oz (100 g)
  • Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) 3 ½ oz (100 g)
  • Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) 3 ½ oz (100 g)

Preparation: Mix all plants and then pour 3 tablespoons of the mixture with 17 fl oz (1/2 l) of boiling water. Stir, cover and let stand for 20 minutes. Then strain, cool and drink during the day in small sips.

Tea mixture with parsley against osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis

Ingredients that you need for the tea:

  • Parsley (Petrosalinum sativum) leaves 3 ½ oz (100 g)
  • Linseed (Linni semen) 3 ½ oz (100 g)
  • Birch (Betula alba) leaves 2 oz (50 g)
  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) 2 oz (50 g)

Preparation: Mix all plants and then pour one tablespoon of the mixture with 10 fl oz (300 ml) of boiling water.  Add half a teaspoon of ginger powder and stir. After ten minutes, strain and drink. You should drink two to three cups of tea during the day.

Parsley lotion for removing freckles and stains from the skin

Ingredients that you need for the lotion:

  • Parsley leaves – a handful
  • Pharmacy alcohol 10 fl oz (300 ml)
  • Glycerin 3 ½ fl oz (100 ml)

Preparation: Pour alcohol and glycerin over a handful of fresh, chopped parsley leaves. Then seal the jar, shake and leave to stand in a dark place for two weeks. From time to time, remember to shake this mixture.

After 14 days, strain the liquid through a sterile gauze and pour in a clean bottle. Then store it in a dark place. Every night before going to bed, wash your skin thoroughly, dry it and then apply this lotion.
